European Union Satellite Centre (SatCen)
Training
European Union Satellite Centre (SatCen) offers 6 training opportunities:
Introduction to Imagery Intelligence (IMINT)
Short course (Spain) by European Union Satellite Centre (SatCen) · €1200 (~£1017) · Current
The aim of this one-month course is to provide foundation training for the analysis of imagery in areas related to defence and security. The course is designed for attendees with little or no background in imagery analysis and provides training in remote-sensing, imagery exploitation using ArcGIS software, imagery interpretation techniques and imagery analysis of strategic infrastructures and military forces.
Introduction to Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT)
Short course (Spain) by European Union Satellite Centre (SatCen) · €1200 (~£1017) · Current
The first module focuses on the creation and management of geographic data, which is followed by the second module covering the fusion of different forms of data, data preparation, the compilation of geo-databases and spatial analysis for the production of GEOINT products. The course requires no previous knowledge in GIS software. Theory lessons are supported with practical exercises and Case Studies related to the defence and security domain.
Data processing course
Short course (Spain) by European Union Satellite Centre (SatCen) · €1200 (~£1017) · Current
In the course, you will learn about and practice the most common techniques of raster data processing. Considering wide range of existing sensors, the data that we will focus on are most common commercial, satellite, optical, multispectral or panchromatic sensors such as for example: QuickBird, WorldView, GeoEye, Ikonos or Pleiades.
Imagery Analysis of the Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Nuclear Weapons Related Facilities (Nuclear)
Short course (Spain) by European Union Satellite Centre (SatCen) · €1200 (~£1017) · Current
The aim of this two-week course is to provide theoretical and practical instruction on the use of satellite imagery to analyse facilities involved in the civil Nuclear Fuel Cycle (NFC) and in the development and deployment of nuclear weapons. Locations used on this course are orientated around facilities that are involved in nuclear related activities or suspected of being involved in the production of nuclear weapon related materials and testing.
Imagery Analysis of Industrial Installations
Short course (Spain) by European Union Satellite Centre (SatCen) · €1200 (~£1017) · Current
The aim of this course, is to provide imagery analysis training for the interpretation of selected industrial installations using satellite and aerial imagery. Industrial facilities and topics include the extraction and processing of raw materials to support strategic industries, such as coke, iron and steel, and the production essential utilities such as water treatment and electrical power. The course comprises of two one-week modules with theoretical lessons supported by guided and unguided practical imagery exercises.
SAR Course
Short course (Spain) by European Union Satellite Centre (SatCen) · €1200 (~£1017) · Current
The aim of this two-week SAR course is to provide initial foundation training, followed by more advanced training for the exploitation of SAR imagery in the field of defence and security. The course is designed in two modules. Module 1 is aimed at attendees with a background in optical imagery interpretation and provides training in the fundamentals of SAR theory as well as application exercises to familiarise attendees with the specific SAR effects and basic SAR imagery exploitation.
